Alexander Commends Alexandria Native, U.S. Naval Academy Graduate

WASHINGTON, D.C. –– U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, today attended the U.S. Naval Academy commencement in Annapolis, Md., to celebrate the accomplishments of Alexandria native, Matthew Warshaw. Warshaw, a 2002 graduate of Bolton High School in Alexandria, graduated from the Academy with honors, earning a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in history.

Alexander, who nominated Warshaw to the U.S. Naval Academy, said today’s ceremony is a significant occasion for Warshaw and for the 5th District as well.

"The pride and the patriotism one feels while attending an event such as today’’s U.S. Naval Academy graduation is overwhelming," Alexander said.

"Seeing a young man from the 5th Congressional District standing among some of our nation’s finest –– with the distinction of honors –– is an inspiration to us all. I congratulate Matthew for his achievements, and I thank him for the example of service and dedication to one’’s country he has set for our state and country."
